Moog makes a guitar that goes “eeeeeeeee” forever!
This is showing up on all my regular reads lately, both guitar and tech/gizmo sites. This is the new Moog guitar. It feature some amazing technology that gives you the ability to either have unlimited sustain, or to mute the strings automatically, or a blend of the two. Thinking about the science of it, it's a guitar that has some very power pickups that I assume alter the magnetic field around the stings. So in essence you have an EBow built into your guitar, or the magnetic field is strong enough to stop the string from vibrating out (same as if you have your strings too close to the pick ups).
It's a brilliant piece of kit and you should check out the video above. Just a shame on the two drawbacks:
1. The price
2. the fact that to work properly it needs some special strings that are more easily manipulated by the pickups.
I'd love one though.
Gibson Longhorn Double Cut BV
Gibson have done it to me again. I hate them, but I love their guitars. This is a beauty. The latest GOTM release, the Longhorn Double Cut DV is a thing of beauty.

Besides being a stunner to look at, technically it is very well optioned. Dual EMG humbuckers, piezo under the tune-o-matic bridge for acoustic tones, and seperate outputs for each, this is an all in one solution for live performance.
If you don't like the colour (shame on you) then the guitar is also available and the Gibson Longhorn Doube Cut HS which features a classic cherry sunburst.

Reverend Roundhouse RT Series
On many a previous occasion I have mentioned my love for all things Reverend. Once again they have not let me down with these new entries into the Reverend Roundhouse Series.
Wow, don't know which on I like better, the shiney black or the sparkley silver. Both of these beauties come with a solid korina body with black back and sides with cream binding, two Reverend Revtron mini-humbuckers that have been calibrated individually for each position.
The Reverend Roundhouse RT series is now available and they come in at a super affordable is $850US.
Who Buys These Guitars?

It seems lately that every week sees the release of new signature or inspired by limited edition guitar hitting the market. Just recently there has been the Slash and Steve Jones models from Gibson, Fender has just released an Elvis Costello signature model. I can't help but wonder if these guitars are marketed at players or collectors.
As a collector, I see the appeal to some extent. I used to collect Kiss memorabilia in my younger days, and the Holy Grail was an Epiphone Ace Frehley Les Paul (which funnily enough Rossco just bought). However, as a guitarist, I was let down by the guitar (FYI, Rossco loves it and hopefully can pull himself away from it long enough to write something about it).
To me, it doesn't matter whose name is on the guitar, or who plays a particular model. If I don't like the feel of the guitar, or I don't "connect" with it, no level of endorsement will sway me to convert. I'd really like to hear what people think about the new wave of signature guitars and your experiences with them.
Gibson Les Paul LP-295 Gold Top
The company I love to hate and a hate to love are back with their latest Guitar of the Month and this one is something special. This Gibson Les Paul LP-295 Gold Top is a thing of beauty. Featuring a mahogany body (with maple top) and neck, 50’s rounded neck profile, rosewood fingerboard, 22 frets, Chrome Bigsby bridge, a hand painted ES-295 style pick guard, 57 Classic Plus (bridge) and 57 Classic (neck) humbucker pickups, and the standard Les Paul tone and volume controls, it is a classic styled guitar that makes me want to weep.
Unfortunately I don't have the spare $3000 to buy one, but if you do, hurry, as there is only a thousand being made.
