Music Gadgets has the skinny on the new Gibson Les Paul Standard. Here are some of the highlights:

  • Asymmetrical neck profile
  • Chambered body
  • hand-carved AA maple top
  • Locking Grover tuners with 18:1 ratio
  • Burstbucker Pro Alnico V humbuckers
  • TonePros Nashvile Tune-o-matic bridge
  • Finishes include honey burst, light burst, ice tea, heritage cherry sunburst, ebony and gold top. And if you are like me and play your Les Pauls sans pick guard, then you'll be happy to know the units ship without the pick guard attached.

I'd like to have a play with that new neck and see how it plays out. Could be interesting.

Show us your Muff! (or my muff is better than your muff)

I've been going back lately and listening to a lot of the music I grew up on. We're talking early to mid 90's alt rock grunge type stuff. I always hated the term gruunge. Nirvana were grunge. Apprently so were Pearl Jam, SoundGarden, Alice In Chains, Screaming Trees.... None of those bands sounded anything like the other. But I digress. What has started to appeal to me again is the old muff tones of the day. It's good to see people still getting into the tones, as these two pedals show. I know the EH pedal is the classic muff/fuzz tone, but I really enjoy the Earthquaker Devices Hoof Fuzz. I think the notes cut through just that bit clearer.

I always wanted a Bixsonic Fuzz (I think that was what it was called - the guys from Bush used them). I think they just got re-release. I'm sure I talked about the re-release on here but I can't find it. Guess I'll just pull out my old Tech-21 XXL for a bash.

Eastwood Airline 2p LTD in Metallic Margarita

    Me like-y much-y.

Watch for the part where he flicks to the bridge pickup. That is a beautiful honky tone right there!

Diamond Memory Lane 2 Analog Delay Pedal

This is a beautifully versatile delay pedal from Diamond. I especially love the variations in the frequency oscillations caused by the tone control. You can really get into some wild Radiohead type sounds with this thing.

Welcome to the fold - Gear Vault -

You may have noticed that I have started offering advertising space on the site. I plan on being extremely picky with who I approve for advertising, so that you guys know that the sites and products being advertised are quality. Since placing the advertising system on the site I have knock back half a dozen or so advertising request because the sites, and the one product I recieved were complete junk.

Not so with Gear Vault. This site is so good, I am jealous. Charlie has a great site over there (web dev nerd alert - I love that Revolution theme) and has an ebay alternative auction site specifically for guitar related item.

So click on the link on the right and give the site a visit. I highly recommend it.
