Gibson now suing people who sell Guitar Hero

This is getting ridiculous. After announcing that they were suing Activision of a purported breach of patent, now they are taking aim at the major retail outlets that sell the game.

It looks like it's all a case of poopy pants on Gibson's part after Activision announced they would not be renewing the licensing deal with Gibson. As stated in an Activision statement:

As Activision noted in its filing, Gibson waited three years to make its patent allegations, and only did so after it became clear that Activision was not interested in renewing its marketing and support agreement with Gibson. Activision continues to believe that Gibson’s claims are disingenuous and lack any justification.

This leaves the next title in the series - GuitarHero:Aerosmith - in a strange predicament as Joe Perry is a Gibson endorsee and is known for his love of Gibson and it's related companies guitars.

This is getting ridiculous. I happen to live in Nashville, the site of Gibson's headquarters, and they are a great asset to our community. However, it's moves like this and when they sued PRS a few years ago that really make me dislike what they're doing. I have a hard time buying any Gibson product knowing that it supports decisions like this. It just seems so petty.

I have an absolute love / hate thing going on at the moment. I love the guitars, but I hate the company. I love how they are trying to embrace new technologies, but I hate how they are marketing and implementing them ie: the Robot series.

Do they have a contract that states that Activision had agreed to work with Gibson for more than three years? I don't understand what the breach of patent is? I love Gibson guitars and I play Guitar Hero often on my xbox 360. I dig both products, and when all the facts come out, I hope I am not put off of either company but chances are someone is being a butt-head here...and I don't get why Gibson is going after stores that sell Guitar Hero? What the heck is that about?!
