Jef SarverJef Sarver Is Playing "Freebird"

(CBS) CHICAGO A Chicago musician could soon hold the world record for the longest guitar solo.

Jef Sarver has been playing “Freebird” by Lynyrd Skynyrd, singing the line, “If I leave here tomorrow.” As of just before 9 a.m., he had been playing for more than 40 hours

By noon, Sarver will have been playing 44 hours straight. Three people have to watch him at all times, and every note must be videotaped.

Sarver is playing at a Potbelly Sandwich Works at State and Lake streets. He began his efforts at 3:15 p.m. Wednesday, according to his Web site.

This is Sarver's second attempt at the record for the longest uninterrupted guitar solo performance. He held the record "for a month or two" last year, his Web site said.

My question is what happens if he breaks a string? Is the world record attempt over at that pont. Does he get to change guitars? What about toilet breaks?
